Crystal Palace

Last Friday night was our friend Oliver's birthday party at Crystal Palace.  I have yet to take my kids roller skating so this was a new fun experience for us.  It was a little challenging trying to get all five of us in our skates and then even harder trying to help all four girls learn how to skate.  Thank goodness for the wall that my bigger girls used to help them along their way.

It is interesting how personalities can determine just how well kids do at one thing or another.  Just as I imagined, Alexis was the most successful in her attempts at skating.  She let fear go and was even trying to skate in the middle with more experienced skaters whizzing by.

Rebecca, who wants so badly to keep up with Alexis, was very persistent in making her little feet do what she wanted, even if it meant spending some time on the ground.

Maile who is extremely literal, took my comment of "be careful, you don't want to crack your head open" to heart and kept her hand firmly planted on the wall the entire time for fear of cracking her head open.  Might need to keep certain comments to myself next time.

Natalie, like Alexis was a fireball on the rink. Although it required me to hold her hand the entire time, she kept telling me "faster!" No surprise there.

Nobody wanted to leave when it was time, and everyone wants to go back.  We will be going back for sure.  I spent much of my childhood hanging out at Crystal Palace, it was like a homecoming for me to be there. Even better seeing my girls have so much fun trying something new.

Happy Birthday Oliver!!
